The Travel Film Archive has an impressive YouTube channel chock full of videos taken all over the world from the early 1900s through the 1960s. There are a great deal of videos from francophone countries, especially France. Unfortunately, most of them are silent, but some of them contain narration which appears on the screen (as was the style during the silent film era). I am already imagining the possibilities for using this in the classroom, but I also think the content here is worth a look for our own personal knowledge and understanding of the cultural history of the people who speak the language we teach.
