Back in 2016, I blogged about how I had my students use MakeBeliefsComix to practice writing dialogues in French. Unfortunately, since then, MakeBeliefsComix has changed their model from not requiring a sign up to requiring one to create comics. This introduces a barrier for my students being able to use the program at school, but there are still ways I can use it as a teacher. MakeBeliefsComix provides an easy way to create a cloze activity for students with some visuals to guide them. Here is one I made:

After I created this, I created an answer key for absent students to review. Although my students do most of their classwork for me on their devices, I decided to have them do this one on paper. It also gave them a paper copy of something they could study from. I chose to have them work on it in groups since these types of activities can be challenging for some students.

Have you ever created a cloze activity using a comic strip generator? If not, how else do you use comic strip generators in your classroom?
